WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item upgrader mod will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the Best item upgrader being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other items. Players can purchase them from item upgrades upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items are available in many places including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item level upgrade reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrader equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
