How to Repair Bifold Door Top Roller Guide

If your bifold doors are squeaking, they probably need a little maintenance. You may need to clean and lubricate them or adjust them. The problem may be caused by loose screws on the top pivot or by the top guide roller.

Remove the Door

It may appear complicated and difficult to set up the bifold internal doors, but for DIYers with some experience it is actually quite simple. The frame is not the problem however getting the doors to fold and close smoothly is. As bifold doors are complex machines, they might require some 'tuning' to continue functioning properly. This could be as simple as tightening screws or as complex as taking out the door and replacing a pivot pin or roller.

Remove the Bottom Pivot

This issue can be resolved by taking off the screws that adjust the repairing bottom of bifold door pivot by loosening the top track mounting screws, and moving anchor/pivot.

A new set of top roller guides is a low-cost solution to a problem that can make your bifold doors difficult to operate. They're usually available at your local hardware store in the door section but they're also accessible on the internet through a variety of vendors. You will also need a squeeze-clamp and a small container Elmer's wood adhesive, that is sold in big box stores.
