WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
